Russia wants to establish a ferry connection between occupied Berdyansk and Kuban

The invaders have announced plans to establish a ferry connection between the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation and the temporarily occupied Berdyansk and Mariupol.
The Russian occupation administrations intend to establish a ferry connection between the temporarily occupied Ukrainian port cities of Berdyansk and Mariupol and the Kuban on the territory of the Russian Federation. This was reported by the Berdyansk City Administration.
However, the Berdyansk MVA emphasizes that these statements are nothing more than an attempt to mask deep problems with the infrastructure in the occupied territories.
“Behind the loud statements about “new logistical capabilities” lies the inability to ensure even the basic functioning of the city and port infrastructure,” the official statement of the Ukrainian administration says.
According to Ukrainian officials, the invaders are trying to create at least the appearance of economic activity in the region, where most of the logistics, energy and municipal systems remain in a critical state due to hostilities and the complete absence of competent management.
It can also be predicted that the ferry connection project, if implemented, will be used mainly for military or propaganda purposes – as part of the Russian Federation’s attempt to legalize the annexation of the occupied territories through transport integration with Russia.
Earlier, the spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, Dmytro Pletenchuk, stated that the Russian Federation continues to illegally export Ukrainian resources through the ports of Mariupol and Berdyansk.
The Kremlin also plans to modernize the Mariupol port to export up to 12 million tons of stolen cargo per year, including metal, coal, and grain.
