Russia will not celebrate Navy Day in Kronstadt “for security reasons”

The Kremlin canceled the most important part of the Russian “holiday” in Kronstadt near St. Petersburg due to fears for its own fleet.

The Russians canceled the main event for the Day of the Navy, which was supposed to take place on July 28 in Kronstadt. Gospodarka Morska writes about this with reference to British intelligence.

Navy Day is one of the most important holidays of the Russian Navy, which was especially popular in Soviet times. In 2017, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin again gave this holiday a state character.

The most important part of the holiday was held in St. Petersburg. Every year, a parade of ships took place on the Neva, when they were headed to the naval base in the city of Kronstadt.

As British intelligence emphasizes, the cancellation of celebrations in Kronstadt this year is an unprecedented situation.

“This is not the first case after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, when (ed.: solemn) events in Russia are canceled. However, this event is the most important among them, which indicates the growing difficulties in guaranteeing the security of its armed forces,” the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain noted.

As USM wrote, the day before British intelligence commented on the attack on a Russian ferry in the port of Kavkaz.
