Russian federation continues to sabotage the work of the “grain corridor”
Exports through the “grain” corridor have significantly decreased, because russia continues to delay inspections of vessels.
Russia continues to artificially limit the possibilities of the Black Sea Grain Initiative by delaying inspections of vessels by the Joint Coordination Center, said the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov.
“Now 77 vessels are in line for inspection in Turkey, the ports of Great Odesa are using up to 50% of their capacities, and the price of grain is increasing with each new blackmail from russia,” the minister commented on Facebook.
“We had the experience of conducting 40 inspections per day, now due to the position of russia, there are five times less inspections per day. In October, the “Grain Initiative” allowed the export of 4.2 million tons of grain, in November we will not be able to export even 3 million tons. In addition, we can technically process 6 million tons per month,” he added.
Vessels wait two to five weeks for inspection. Just one day of downtime costs no less than $30,000.
Also on Sunday, the US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink and the US Special Representative for Sanctions Policy James O’Brien visited Odesa and Pivdennyi ports. Officials discussed ways to strengthen the Grain Initiative and expand its capabilities.
“Strategically, we should achieve not only speeding up inspections on the Bosphorus, but also joining the Mykolaiv ports initiative and prolonging the agreement for at least a year,” Kubrakov noted.
