Russian-flagged ship carrying stolen Ukrainian wheat heads to Turkish port

The Irkutsk vessel (IMO:9419084) loaded over 7,200 tons of Ukrainian grain in temporarily occupied Berdyansk.

This was reported by Kateryna Yaresko, a journalist for the SeaKrime project of the Peacemaker Center.

The Irkutsk vessel (former name – ALFA M) was loaded in Berdyansk from August 16 to 19. It is currently heading with a cargo of 7,208.68 tons of wheat to the Turkish port of Iskenderun.

The GUR War&Sanctions portal reported that in February 2024, the SBU reported suspicions to the vessel’s captain of violating the procedure for entry/exit to/from the TOT of Ukraine.

In particular, it is known that this ship, formerly known as Salvinia, transported ilmenite (the main raw material for the production of titanium) from Chornomorsk to the Romanian port of Constanta, from where the raw material was picked up by the sanctioned Syrian ship Souria (new name – San Damian, IMO:9274331) and delivered to the temporarily occupied Feodosia.
