Russian LNG tanker stopped in the Mediterranean Sea after attack on another gas carrier

The Russian-flagged Arctic Pioneer LNG tanker has suspended its voyage after a Ukrainian attack on another Russian vessel.

The vessel has been anchored near Port Said, Egypt, since March 3, Bloomberg reports.

A Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker under U.S. sanctions has suspended its voyage in the Mediterranean Sea after reports of an attack by Ukrainian naval drones on another vessel nearby.

The tanker, the Arctic Pioneer, was used to transport gas from an Arctic LNG project that is also under U.S. sanctions.

In February, according to shipping services, the Arctic Pioneer delivered a shipment of gas to China and then headed back to Russian waters. However, its voyage was suspended after an incident with another vessel.

Recall that in early March, the Russian-sanctioned Arctic Metagaz gas carrier caught fire in the Mediterranean Sea. Russia later claimed that Arctic Metagaz was attacked by Ukrainian naval drones.
