Russian propagandists followed the yacht of the Finnish president

Russian so-called journalists followed the yacht of the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb.

Employees of the Russian state channel “Russia-1” watched the yacht of the President of Finland in the Aland Islands, reports Yle.

Russian state television followed President Alexander Stubb’s visit to the Åland Islands last week.

A film crew vessel followed President Stubb’s yacht Kultaranta VIII as it left Mariehamn. According to the newspaper Ilta-Sanomat, television crews also filmed Stubb on the square in Mariehamn.

The Rossiya-1 report also discusses why the Finns “would like to militarize the Åland Islands.”

The SUPO security police and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs believe that this is an attempt at informational influence. In their opinion, the program is designed for the domestic audience in Russia.

“Russia is trying to influence the perception of Finland and NATO and strengthen its own false narrative,” said the Foreign Ministry’s response to an inquiry by the HBL newspaper.

Rossiya-1 TV channel is on the EU sanctions list. Sanctions prevent the spread of propaganda, but do not prohibit the collection of information or interviews within the EU.
