Russian ships “escape” from Novorossiysk

Ships and submarines of the russian Navy have left the base in Novorossiysk en masse.

Yesterday, January 11, ships of the russian Navy left the port of Novorossiysk due to a threat from the Armed Forces. In particular, russia withdrew the largest amphibious ship of the Black Sea Fleet “Pyotr Morgunov” and three submarines of the Improved-Kilo class. Currently, only a few military and support vessels remain at the base, Naval News reports.

“Pyotr Morgunov” was supposed to transport military supplies from russia to Sevastopol after the explosion on the Kerch bridge. Despite the fact that russia is trying to carry out repairs, the carrying capacity of the bridge remains limited. Therefore, the amphibious ships of the russian fleet are used as transport ships. However, the simultaneous withdrawal of submarines indicates that this is hardly a “resupply mission.”

The mass “escape” of ships can be both a test of the readiness of the crews and a precautionary measure due to the threat from the Armed Forces.
