Russian submarines conducted secret operation in the Atlantic near Britain

The UK is seeing increased Russian activity in the North Atlantic.

This was reported by the UK Defense Minister John Healy, writes Sky News.

According to him, in the past few weeks, when “the eyes of many have been directed to the Middle East,” the British military and allies, including Norway, have responded to the increase in Russian activity, including submarines.

It is known that the Russian operation involved a Russian attack submarine of the Akula class and two specialized submarines of the Main Directorate of Deep-Sea Research.

The Minister noted that a Royal Navy warship and a P8 Marine patrol aircraft were sent to “monitor and deter any malicious activity” by the Russian Federation.

“I am making this statement to expose this Russian activity, and to President Putin I say: “We see you. We see your activities regarding our cables and our pipelines, and you should know that any attempt to damage them will not be tolerated and will have serious consequences,” the British minister stressed.

As of today, the submarines have already left British waters and headed north. There are no signs of damage to the underwater infrastructure.

It should be noted that the operation against Russian submarines, in which more than 500 British military personnel participated, lasted more than a month and has already ended. During this time, the boats were monitored around the clock.

As previously reported by USM, Russian warships began to escort tankers of the “shadow fleet” through the English Channel.
