Russian submarines entered the sea near Great Britain twice

Since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russian submarines have entered the Irish Sea twice.

For the first time, a Russian Kilo-class submarine was deployed near the Irish Sea 18 months ago, according to Bloomberg.

The second case happened recently. Sources told the publication that the scale of boat movements was beyond what had previously been observed in Britain.

According to Bloomberg interlocutors, US officials were aware of the movement of the submarines. The British Ministry of Defense refused to comment on the operations.

According to sources, Russia may deploy submarines near Britain and Ireland to identify potential weak points in the defense of the countries. It can also be an intimidation maneuver in response to support for Ukraine.

Earlier, USM reported that Russia launched the “Irkutsk” nuclear-powered submarine after years of modernization.
