Russians announce plans to “develop” port in occupied Berdyansk

The Russians want to “modernize” the port infrastructure in occupied Berdyansk.
As reported by Russian media, this involves building a new railway line to the port, upgrading the port infrastructure, and increasing the depth to accommodate larger vessels.
According to the Russian Ministry of Transport, in 2024 the port’s throughput capacity was 1.7 million tons. The Russians plan to increase it to over 2.4 million tons by 2030.
It is worth noting that, according to the Ministry of Development of Ukraine, the throughput capacity of the Berdyansk port before the Russian occupation was 3.5 million tons. The occupation “rolled back” the port’s level by over 10 years, but the Russians pretend to “develop” ports in the occupied regions.
Earlier, USM reported that a Russian ship committed another theft of grain from the Berdyansk port.
