Russians launched 11 attacks on Ukrainian port infrastructure in three months of 2026

In January-March alone, Russian troops attacked Ukrainian ports almost as many times as in the entire year 2025.

This was stated by the Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine Volodymyr Lepushinsky in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

“The tactics of shelling have changed: from massive strikes on energy, the enemy has moved on to more targeted strikes on logistics and port infrastructure. The number of such strikes has increased significantly: in the first three months of 2026, there were 11 attacks on port infrastructure – this is only two strikes less than in the entire year 2025, and seven less than in the entire year 2024,” Lepushinsky noted.

The Deputy Chairman of the NBU also noted that Russia is also attacking the railway, and a peak was recorded in March – 21 attacks on railway infrastructure, compared to 13 in January and 18 in February.

The shelling affected exports from ports. According to Lepushynsky, the greatest negative impact was in the IV quarter of 2025 – about $150 million in iron ore exports and $700 million in grain exports.

“In the I quarter of 2026, there were losses, but an order of magnitude smaller due to the rather rapid restoration of logistics. We consider these losses to be temporary and expect export volumes to be recovered during 2026, provided that security risks do not lead to critical destruction of maritime logistics facilities. Despite the fact that the enemy is systematically attacking port infrastructure, trying to destroy our export potential, the dynamics of recovery are rapid,” the expert added.

Earlier it became known that iron ore exports from Ukraine decreased by 33.9%.
