Russians want to allocate over $1 million to raise sunken USPA ship in Mariupol

The Russians have allocated 88 million rubles (over $1 million) for the lifting of the sunken dredging vessel of the USPA “Meotida” in the port of Mariupol.

The contractor must complete the work within 60 days from the date of conclusion of the contract, Russian media reports.

The occupiers’ enterprise “Research and Design Institute of Testing Machines, Devices and Mass Measuring Instruments” announced an electronic auction for the lifting of the sunken dredger “Meotida” in the port of Mariupol.

As a reminder, the invaders ordered the dredger “Meotida” to be lifted from the Mariupol water area in 2023. The occupiers hope that the removal of the vessel will guarantee the safe navigation of vessels along the approach channel of the Coal Harbor. The dredger was planned to be lifted by November 11, 2024.

According to the document, the Russians ordered the shipowner — the Delta-Pilot branch of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority — to develop documentation for the removal of the vessel by November 11, 2023, and to lift it within a year.
