Russia’s shelling of the port in Odesa contradicts international humanitarian law

Denise Brown, the UN Coordinator in Ukraine, said that the Russian shelling of the Odesa port violates international humanitarian law and must stop immediately.

According to Brown, she is horrified by the footage of night strikes by Russian troops on the Odesa port.

“This civilian port, vital to Ukraine and the world’s poorest people who depend on Ukrainian grain, is being severely damaged by massive strikes. This is inhumane and contrary to international humanitarian law,” Brown said.

According to the UN coordinator, strikes on civilian infrastructure “must stop immediately.”

Previously, USM reported that on the night of July 20, Russian troops once again resorted to a powerful missile and drone attack on southern Ukraine. The main target of the Russians is the ports of the Grain Agreement.
