Sanctioned Arctic LNG-2 is preparing to send its 10th gas carrier

The sanctioned Russian plant “Arctic LNG-2” is preparing to send the tenth ship with gas to China.

This is reported by “Business Censor” with reference to Bloomberg.

The Russian Arctic project, which has been under US sanctions since 2023, continues to ship fuel for export. Thus, the terminal is preparing to send the tenth ship with gas since the end of June.

Previously, gas carriers were headed to a single port in southern China or to a terminal in the Russian Far East. Since August, eight gas carriers with sanctioned Russian LNG have arrived at the Chinese Beihai terminal.

The choice of a single port with limited international connections may be an attempt by China to minimize risks for the broader gas sector. The increase in supplies also occurred against the backdrop of escalating trade disputes between the US and China.

As a reminder, the first batch arrived at the end of August on the  Arctic Mulan vessel, and the second on the “Voskhod” gas tanker, shortly after Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to China to participate in the SCO summit and military parade.
