SBU releases new details of submarine bombing operation in Novorossiysk

Before blowing up the submarine, Ukrainian counterintelligence disabled an Il-38N reconnaissance aircraft that could “light up” underwater drones on the approach to the target.
While preparing for the attack in the port of Novorossiysk, employees of the 13th Main Directorate of the Military Counterintelligence Department of the SBU hit a modernized Il-38N naval reconnaissance aircraft at the Yeisk airbase. The SBU reported this.
According to the agency, it was this aircraft that actively counteracted the work of naval drones and was the only aircraft of this class in the Black Sea capable of detecting the Sub Sea Baby underwater drone during its approach to the object.
The hit was carried out by a modern drone with a surface-to-surface warhead: a charge of approximately 2,000 destructive elements directed downwards detonated directly above the compartment with the main equipment and radars, and the engine was also damaged. The estimated cost of such an aircraft is about $24 million.
It was the blinding of anti-submarine aircraft that provided a window for the successful destruction of the Russian submarine of project 636.3 “Varshavyanka” in the Novorossiysk water area by Sub Sea Baby underwater drones. According to the Service, the published video footage of the attack on the Il-38N demonstrates the real level of security of Russian strategic facilities – far from the loud reports of the Russian Defense Ministry.
Recall that recently, underwater drones of the SBU for the first time blew up a Russian submarine in the port of Novorossiysk.
