Sea carrier “Sinokor” will stop work in the port of the Russian Federation

South Korean shipping company Sinokor will cease operations at the Russian port of Skhydny in Primorye, as the port operator recently came under US sanctions.

Since March 10, the company and its sunbsidiary “Hueng-A Line” will stop accepting applications for delivery, according to the press service of  “Sinokor”.

As Biz.Liga writes, the company’s last flight to this port will take place on March 31. However, “Sinokor” will continue to operate other Far Eastern terminals.

The reason was that on February 23, the operator of the Eastern port, which belongs to the leader of the Russian container transportation market, the Global Ports group, was put on the US sanctions list on charges of transporting ammunition from the DPRK.

Sinokor, together with “Hueng-A Line”, has a fleet of 72 vessels with a capacity of about 100,000 standard containers and is among the 20 largest shipping lines in terms of transportation volume.

As previously reported by USM, the heads of the defense departments of South Korea and the United States recently agreed to combat the supply of North Korean weapons to Russia.

The day before, the Minister of Defense of South Korea, Shin Won Sik, said that since July 2023, North Korea has sent about 6,700 containers with millions of ammunition to Russia for the war against Ukraine.
