Sea exports compensated for losses from the blockade of the border with Poland
The operation of the sea corridor partially compensated for the losses from the blockade of the Polish-Ukrainian border. Thus, in November, GDP grew by 4%.
As a result, for January-November 2023, economic growth is estimated at the level of 5.5% compared to the same period last year, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine reports.
According to the Minister of Economy, Yulia Svyridenko, in November 2023, the almost month-long blockade of the Polish-Ukrainian border was the main negative factor for exporting producers and producers dependent on imported raw materials for the delivery of products by road transport.
“At the same time, the work of the Ukrainian maritime corridor made it possible to partially compensate for losses in the economy due to the blockade of the border. First of all, producers of agricultural and metallurgical products, metal ore mining enterprises and railway carriers took advantage of this,” the minister said.
As previously reported by USM, the operation of the Great Odesa ports in the Black Sea next year can provide Ukraine with up to 8% of additional GDP.
