Shadow Russian tanker attacked in Rostov-on-Don begins to sink

A Russian tanker hit by drones began to sink near the sea terminal of the Novoshakhtinsky Oil Products Plant.

ASTRA OSINT researchers have located the hit tanker Valeryi Gorchakov near the oil products transshipment terminal of the Novoshakhtinsky Oil Products Plant.

As a reminder, the tanker was attacked by sea drones on December 18. Damage to the bridge and hull, holes in the engine and tiller compartments, and a fire on board are reported.

After the impact, the ship began to sink: the stern sank almost to the level of the superstructure. The area of the incident was surrounded, and the tanker was taken into a bony barrier to contain possible leaks.

Reference: the dry cargo ship Valery Gorchakov was built in 1969, and in 2004 it was converted into an oil tanker for the transportation of oil products of all classes. The vessel is under sanctions from the US, EU, UK, Canada and Switzerland. According to the Defense Intelligence of the MoD, it has previously called at ports in temporarily occupied territories.

The day before, USM wrote that Russian tankers are changing routes due to fear of new drone strikes.
