Shipbuilding in russia has already faced a crisis

The construction of two research vessels, which the Nevsky Shipbuilding and Repair Plant was supposed to build by the end of this month, may be delayed until 2026.

The vessels were to be built for the needs of the fishing industry. However, it is now impossible to complete the project “for technical reasons” — that is, russia does not have the necessary equipment “that will replace equipment from unfriendly countries,” writes TsTS.

In addition, the cost of building both ships will increase at least three times. Representatives of the industry fear that such a situation will become a precedent, and the increase in costs and the increase in construction terms will also extend to the construction of industrial vessels.

As part of the investment quota program, the construction of 105 fishing vessels is planned, of which less than 10% have been handed over so far, although russian shipyards were supposed to hand over 43 vessels by the end of the year.

“Due to the rejection of the import supply of critical equipment, a redesign of the ships is required. This, in combination with the costs of searching for similar equipment, servicing loans, leads to an increase in the price of projects,” one of the russian fish farmers told rosZMI.
