Since the beginning of the year, Russians have stolen 500,000 tons of Ukrainian grain from Zaporizhzhia
The invaders take Ukrainian agricultural products from the occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region to Crimea and the territory of the Russian Federation, after which they export them.
Since the beginning of 2024, the Russian invaders have removed about 500,000 tons from the temporarily occupied territories of the Zaporizhia region, and plan to steal at least 200,000 more tons. Ivan Fedorov, the head of the Zaporizhzhya Regional Military Administartion, announced this.
The head of the region noted that these 500,000 tons are one-seventh of all the grain that Russia sold for export.
As the head of the Regional Military Administartion noted, at the beginning of the full-scale war in Zaporizhzhia region, 1.8 million hectares of arable land were cultivated, and now 1.4 million hectares of them (80%) are under occupation or in the zone of active hostilities.
“The occupiers also removed grain from the elevators, granaries, and the port of Berdyansk, which had been stored since previous years. Due to the stolen grain alone, the losses of the Zaporizhzhya region’s agricultural sector in the first year of occupation amounted to over UAH 7 billion,” Fedorov added.
Earlier, USM reported that the invaders had placed the Pantsir air defense system in the Berdyansk port.
