Slovakia canceled restrictions on the import of grain from Ukraine


On May 12, the Government of Slovakia approved the proposal of the Ministry of Agriculture to cancel the unilateral ban on the import of agricultural products from Ukraine by the decision of the European Commission.

The authorities decided to replace the ban on imports with a decision of the European Commission, TASR reports.

Formally, in this way, Slovakia canceled the ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products.

The country also introduced a special mode of transit of Ukrainian grain through Slovakia.

The representative of the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture, Andrey Valner, confirmed to the publication that Slovakia applies only EU legislation in this area.

The measures of the European Commission were introduced on May 2. They will last until June 5. During this period, Ukrainian wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower can be imported to all EU countries, except Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary. At the same time, the transit of Ukrainian products through the territory of these countries is allowed.
