South Korean intelligence has evidence of North Korea supplying Russia with weapons

According to South Korea, North Korea supplies Russia with ammunition manufactured in the 1970s.

The day before, South Korean intelligence (NIS) noticed 122-mm artillery shells manufactured in North Korea in the 1970s among the weapons used by the Russian Federation for the war against Ukraine, Yonhap News reports .

“The NIS is analyzing the relevant circumstances in detail and also continues to monitor the overall military cooperation between North Korea and Russia,” the intelligence agency said.

The NIS also assured that they are closely monitoring the possibility of illegal supply of missile parts to North Korea. Intelligence agencies fear that North Korea may be purchasing such parts to develop new weapons.

South Korean Defense Minister Shin Won-sik estimated that North Korea has sent about 6,700 containers to Russia since September. Probably there were about 3 million artillery shells of 152 mm caliber or 500 thousand shells of 122 mm caliber.

Last year, the Ukrainians, together with their partners, were able to intercept a shipment of North Korean weapons destined for the Russian Federation. In particular, the Korean inscription 방-122 is visible on the photo taken by the Ukrainian military.
