Spain will allocate 4.4 million euros to the Grain from Ukraine initiative. The state will provide funds together with the World Food Program.
“I supported President Zelenskyy’s Grain from Ukraine initiative to help those in need. We welcome our contribution of 4.4 million euros, which Spain will provide together with the World Food Program,” said Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sanchez at a joint press conference with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.
The head of the Spanish government also added that Spain is ready to support and accompany Ukraine in the process of realizing its legitimate aspirations to become a member of the European Union.
The Grain from Ukraine program provides for the purchase of Ukrainian grain and its transfer to countries suffering from a food crisis. As part of the initiative, Ethiopia and Somalia have already received 110,000 tons of grain.
