Special watercrafts will be built to transport HIMARS
Special boats for the transportation of HIMARS jet installations will be built in Australia.
The Spanish shipbuilding company Navantia, together with its partner Australian firm UGL, offered the Australian fleet to create landing craft for HIMARS jet installations, “Military” reports.
Landing boats LMV-M are supposed to replace the obsolete boats LCM-8. According to the developers, the ability to carry the M142 HIMARS rocket launcher system on board the boat is a special advantage of the LMV-M boats. Just in January, the Australian government announced the purchase of 20 such complexes for $385.
The Littoral Maneuver Vessel Medium (LMV-M) is almost entirely an Australian development. Production is planned to be deployed in Australia, and local companies will be involved in the supply chain.
Navantia and the fleet of Australia have been cooperating for many years. Over the past 8 years alone, the company has delivered ships with a total displacement of over 110,000 tons to the Australian Navy. These are two universal landing ships, three destroyers and two supply ships. Navantia also supplied Australia with 12 landing craft of the LLC type.
