Stole a boat: a deputy in the Odesa region took possession of state property worth more than 2 million UAH

The prosecutor’s office has exposed the head of one of the district councils in Odesa Region for stealing 2.69 million UAH of property of the State Environmental Inspection of the South-Western District.
The law enforcement officers exposed another member of parliament for the illegal seizure of property of the State Environmental Inspection of the South-Western District worth 2.69 million UAH. Among the stolen assets is the Tuna speedboat, the Odesa District Prosecutor’s Office reported .
According to the investigation, the official, under the pretext of allegedly protecting state property from enemy fire, took possession of a Tuna 865 Cabin speedboat with two outboard engines and a car trailer. The deputy misled persons who stored property on the territory of the “Sovignon” yacht club in Odesa.
As reported, later, the suspect moved the boat to a “safe” place on the territory of the plant in the city of Bilyaivka and disposed of it at his own discretion.
Law enforcement officers detained the head of the district council and informed him of the suspicion under Part 5 of Art. 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Currently, the prosecutors are choosing a preventive measure for the official in the form of detention, removal from his position and seizure of property.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is carried out by the investigators of the VP No. 4 ORUP No. 1 of the GUNP in the Odesa region under the operational support of the employees of the UKR of the GUNP in the Odesa region and the USBU of Ukraine in the Odesa region.
