In Odesa, they discussed the security of the seaport, as well as other urgent challenges for the port business, in particular the issue of railway tariffs.
This was reported by the USPA.
A working meeting was held in Odessa with the participation of the head of the Odesa City Military Administration Serhiy Lysak, the head of the USPA Oleksandr Semyrha, the head of the territorial department of the National Guard Oleh Pidlubny, the head of the Shipping Administration Mykola Kravchuk, representatives of military structures and stevedoring companies operating in the Odesa port.
The meeting participants focused on the issues of protecting the port, coordinating joint actions, as well as responding promptly to changes in the enemy’s tactics. They separately discussed urgent challenges for the port business, in particular the issue of railway tariffs, and emphasized the importance of constant and open dialogue, as well as ensuring equal conditions for all market entities.
“I am convinced: business must work. The port is the economic pillar of the country, and its stability is very important. We also talked about responsibility. It is shared. Without the participation of business, the city is struggling today, and together we can do more for the defense forces and for the stable operation of the port,” said the head of the Odesa City Military Administration Serhiy Lysak.
Head of the USPA Oleksandr Semyrha said that the department is already implementing a number of technical and organizational solutions that increase security and guarantee the operation of the Ukrainian sea corridor in any conditions.
Recall that on the night of November 17, Russian troops attacked the port infrastructure of the Odesa region with drones.
In particular, the USPA confirmed that after the night Russian attack, gas pumping equipment located on board a civilian vessel under the Turkish flag caught fire. In this regard, Romania evacuated residents of a border village.
On November 18, the USPA reported that the fire on a vessel in Izmail, which caught fire due to the Russian attack, was eliminated. The operational headquarters continues its work. Specialists are assessing the condition of the facility and determining further response steps. At the same time, measures are underway in the port to eliminate the consequences of the shelling and fully restore the infrastructure.
