Syria bans imports from Russia, Iran and Israel

The new Syrian administration has banned imports from Russia, Iran and Israel due to market oversaturation.
Since the fall of the Assad regime, Syria has seen a flood of various imported goods into its local markets, Al Arabiya reported.
In Damascus, shops were filled with imported goods, ranging from Turkish bottled water and Saudi food products to Western chocolates, in addition to international brand drinks.
To support the economy, the new government announced the permission for dollar transactions and approved a 50-60% reduction in customs duties.
The decision is aimed at facilitating the import of raw materials to support local producers, as part of efforts to boost economic activity and stimulate industry.
Goods imported from Russia, Iran and Israel will be confiscated in Syria. Iranian and Israeli citizens have also been banned from entering Syria. It is noted that the ban on the import of Israeli goods has been in place in Syria for several years.
USM previously reported that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy invited Switzerland to join in supplying food to Syria.
