military logistics

The invaders first used the Mariupol port to transfer tanks towards Zaporizhia
Russian invaders are intensifying the use of port infrastructure in temporarily occupied Mariupol.
For the first time since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the full use of the port of Mariupol for the transportation of Russian military equipment has been recorded. This was повідомив reported by the head of the Center for the Study of the Occupation, Petro Andryuschenko.
According to the Center for the Study of the Occupation, on the night of July 2-3, the occupiers removed columns of armored vehicles from the territory of the port and the ship repair yard — in particular, tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, which are heading towards the Zaporizhzhia region. At night, the city was blocked, and movement was carried out only with local registration.
According to the head of the Center, Petro Andryuschenko, Russia, faced with logistical difficulties on the southern front, is changing supply routes. The importance of the port of Berdyansk is gradually decreasing due to attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the port of Mariupol is being integrated into the military infrastructure. In particular, it became known about the arrival of a ship with cargo at the port of Mariupol, after which a container train set off in the direction of Volnovakha.
In general, as Andryuschenko notes, Russia supplies various sections of the front through several main logistics hubs. Some of the cargo goes through the Zaporizhia region, the rest directly from Crimea. A large volume of fuel is delivered by rail from the peninsula. Another part passes by highways through Taganrog, and then towards the Zaporizhia, Donetsk regions and further north.
Ilovaisk plays a separate role in providing the northern flank of Donbass: the restored railway hub between Donetsk and Volnovakha has become the main logistics route. The Luhansk region, on the other hand, is supplied directly from the territory of Russia.
The ports of Berdyansk and Mariupol also remain part of integrated logistics: fuel is transported through Berdyansk, although with caution – due to effective strikes by the Ukrainian defense forces on warehouses and trains. In the event of a failure of one route, the Russians quickly switch to reserve branches – for example, instead of moving through Melitopol, the cargo is redirected through Tokmak, Molochansk or Berdyansk.
According to Andryuschenko, the Russian logistics system in the occupied territories is flexible, constantly adapting to changes and modernizing, which makes it one of the key targets for Ukrainian strikes in the deep rear.
As USM wrote the day before, the invaders in Berdyansk convicted a woman for supporting the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ strike on the seaport.
