The amount of repair of “Nord Streams” may reach $500 million

The Repair of the Nord Stream pipelines damaged in the Baltic Sea could cost half a billion dollars.

Nord Stream AG, the operator of the Nord Streams, has begun a preliminary assessment of the cost of repairing the pipes and restoring gas supplies, The New York Times reports, citing its own sources.

The repair estimate estimates the work at approximately $500 million. In addition, russian officials are studying how long the damaged pipes will be able to withstand the effects of salty seawater.

It will be recalled that at the end of September, a leak in the gas pipelines of “Nord Streams” began, caused by explosions. The investigation into the sabotage is still ongoing. Swedish investigators have now confirmed that the explosions at the Nord Stream gas pipelines were the result of sabotage.

German investigators have also determined that a number of explosions on underwater gas pipelines were likely caused by sabotage.

It is unlikely that the sabotage was carried out by a military submarine due to the relatively shallow depth of the sea and the close monitoring of submarines in the region by the NATO Navy. One theory is that the explosive devices were dropped from the ship and then detonated remotely.
