The authorities of Romania reached an agreement with the protesters on the border with Ukraine

The Government of Romania resolved 99% of the issues related to farmers blocking checkpoints on the border with Ukraine.

The protests of Romanian farmers and truckers are likely to end in a few days. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the country, Marcel Cholaku, in an interview with Antena 3 CNN.

According to the official, the reasons for the protestors’ dissatisfaction were sharp price fluctuations and “accumulated disappointment.”

“The material and technical support, which farmers bought very expensively last year, became cheaper in the spring. As a result, the price of agricultural products increased. This is a cumulative factor that does not depend much on the government, but which we must notice,” explained Čolaku.

The government official emphasized that about 99% of the requests from the protesters were closed by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy. Most of them were included in the current year’s budget. Now there are negotiations with insurers.

Earlier on the territory of Romania, farmers blocked the movement of trucks through the Romanian checkpoint “Siret”.

We will remind you that due to the blockade of Ukrainian ports by the Russians, a large share of Ukrainian exports is carried out through the territory of Moldova and Romania in the direction of the ports of Giurgiulesti, Galati and Constanta.
