The ban on the import of Ukrainian grain was extended until September
The European Commission extended the ban on the import of Ukrainian grain to five EU countries. The restrictions will be in effect until September 2023.
The ban on the import of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seeds from Ukraine will last until mid-September, Ukrinform reports.
This decision was taken by the European Commission in relation to five EU countries (Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia), which previously asked to limit imports, citing a sharp drop in market prices, which harmed their farmers.

In its turn, the Ukrainian authorities hoped that the European Commission would not extend the import ban after June 5. Because such restrictions contradict the basic agreements between Ukraine and the EU.
As previously reported by USM, in May the European Commission officially announced the introduction of “exceptional and temporary” precautionary measures against imports from Ukraine until June 5.
