The Belgian ambassador arrived at the Odesa port to discuss the Grain Agreement
The ambassador of Belgium to Ukraine arrived at the Odesa port to discuss the functioning of the Grain Initiative.
On June 7, the Ambassador of Belgium to Ukraine, Peter Van de Velde, visited the port of Odesa on a familiarization visit, USPA reported.
From the Ukrainian side, the head of USPA Yury Lytvyn and the head of Odesa branch of AMPU Maksym Lapai took part in the meeting.
The ambassador assessed the port capacity and cargo transshipment capabilities. However, the key issue of the meeting was the functioning of the “grain corridor”.
AMPU representatives spoke about existing problems with the registration of the incoming fleet, which negatively affects the work of the Grain Initiative.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a number of issues that will become relevant immediately after the victory of Ukraine. They relate to the possibilities of further cooperation, both within the framework of the current Memorandum between USPA and the port of Antwerp, and regarding possible joint investment projects between Ukraine and Belgium.
USM previously reported that the Russians resumed registration of the inbound fleet in violation of the established algorithm for registration and inspection of vessels within the “grain corridor”.
