The Black Sea freight market remains challenging for shipowners

For the most part, freight rates remain at previously achieved levels. In particular, this is influenced by the long-term lack of new cargo applications.
This is reported by the analytical center ASAP Agri.
Charterers enter the market with low freight ideas, but shipowners are extremely reluctant to accept such offers and persistently defend their positions in negotiations, seeking to obtain more favorable rates.
As a result, despite weak trading activity (partly due to the holiday period) and, as a result, a limited number of firm applications in the market, shipowners still manage to keep rates stable in all DWT segments.
The freight department of Atria Brokers estimates rates for the transportation of a Panamax consignment of corn from Ukrainian deep-water ports to South China at 34-35 USD/t.
In the handy-size segment, the freight for 30,000 tons of corn from deep-water ports of Ukraine to the east coast of Italy remains at 16-17 USD/t.
In the container segment, the freight for transporting 6,000 tons of corn from Ukrainian Danube ports to the east coast of Italy is 28-30 USD/t.
The freight for transporting 1,000-3,000 tons of corn from Izmail or Reni by barge to Constanta remains at 8-9 EUR/t.
