The Cabinet of Ministers allowed critical infrastructure enterprises to join the air defense system

Critical infrastructure enterprises can join the state air defense system under the leadership of the military command.

This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal on Facebook.

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved an experimental procedure that allows enterprises to be involved in the formation of air defense groups. Critical infrastructure operators — enterprises that ensure the operation of energy, communications, transport, water supply and other strategic sectors — can join the project first of all.

Participation in the project is also open to enterprises that have the necessary resources and comply with security requirements.

The Minister outlined the key principles of work:

• air defense groups will act exclusively under the commands of the military command within the framework of the unified control system of the Air Force;

• group leaders will work in the digital air defense management system;

• enterprises will be able to purchase or receive air defense assets by decision of the military command or through supply procedures agreed upon by the Ministry of Defense;

• the air defense groups will include verified employees of enterprises, in particular those who have passed the SBU inspection.

This decision will make air defense more effective, protect strategically important facilities from threats, and unite the efforts of the state and business for the safety of people and communities, Shmyhal said.

Earlier, USM reported that on the night of November 17, Russian troops attacked the port infrastructure of the Odesa region with drones.

In particular, the USPA confirmed that after the night Russian attack, gas pumping equipment located on board a civilian vessel under the Turkish flag caught fire. In this regard, Romania evacuated residents of a border village.

On November 18, the USPA reported that the fire on a vessel in Izmail, which caught fire due to the Russian attack, was eliminated. The operational headquarters continues its work. Specialists are assessing the condition of the facility and determining further response steps. At the same time, measures are underway at the port to eliminate the consequences of the shelling and fully restore the infrastructure.
