The Danish Navy has detained the Chinese bulk carrier “Yi Peng 3”, suspected of damaging telecommunications cables in the Baltic Sea.

The detention took place in the area of ​​Danish territorial waters. The vessel was detained by the Danish Navy patrol ship P525, Defence 24 reports.

According to the Bild newspaper, the captain of the detained vessel turned out to be a Russian citizen.

Earlier, USM reported that two NATO underwater cables were damaged in the Baltic Sea.

Initially, information appeared about a malfunction of the C-Lion1 underwater cable, which is stretched between Finland and Germany. Later, it became known about damage to the underwater cable between Lithuania and Sweden. This reduced the Internet bandwidth of Telia, which transmits the connection to Lithuania, by a third.
