During a briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said that the Chinese side had “taken note” of the relevant reports from the Ukrainian side.

According to him, the ship that was hit flies the flag of the Marshall Islands, and there were Chinese citizens on board.

“The Chinese Embassy in Ukraine has already contacted the Chinese sailors and confirmed that there were no victims or injuries,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

Beijing also reiterated China’s official position on the war in Ukraine, emphasizing that “dialogue and negotiations are the only possible way to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.”

Recall, on the night of Monday, May 18, the Russian Shahed kamikaze drone attacked a Chinese merchant ship.

This is the KSL Deyang vessel, which was in the sea near the Odesa region. The vessel flies under the flag of the Marshall Islands, and its shipowner is from the DPRK. On board is a crew of Chinese citizens.
