The court closed the case against the former deputy director of the Odesa port

A court in Odesa has closed the case against the former deputy director of the Odesa Port, who was accused of official negligence.
This is reported by “Intent”with reference to the ruling of the Primorskyi District Court.
In Odessa, the consideration of the case against the former first deputy director of the State Enterprise Odesa Sea Trade Port has been completed. He was accused of official negligence, as a result of which significant losses were caused to both the enterprise and the state budget.
This is Igor Sirenko, who held the position of first deputy director of OMTP since December 2018. Due to his actions, a private company used warehouse facilities free of charge from April to December 2019.
According to the investigation, in March 2019, the official concluded an agreement with the company Sanmobile, which actually allowed him to use almost 7 thousand sq. m of warehouse facilities free of charge (this concerns the Red Warehouses on Mytnaya Square). Formally, the document provided for the provision of cargo storage services, but in essence it was about renting a large area for a symbolic amount of money.
In these warehouses, the company placed hundreds of undeclared cars that arrived through the Odessa port. The investigation showed that if a standard lease agreement was concluded, the port would have received more than a million hryvnias, and the state budget would have received more than 2.4 million. Instead, over the entire period of the agreement, the company received only about 130 thousand hryvnias, and the losses to the state exceeded 3.2 million hryvnias.
The former official did not admit his guilt and, together with his lawyer, asked the court to close the case due to the expiration of the statute of limitations, but the prosecutor did not object.
The court decided to release the accused from criminal liability and closed the proceedings. At the same time, more than 12 thousand hryvnias spent on conducting examinations were assigned to the state.
Earlier, USM reported that the State State Property Fund announced an auction for the privatization of the Odesa Port Plant.
