The court decided to arrest the organizer of the Ukrainian grain theft scheme
The Higher Anti-Corruption Court chose the organizer of a criminal scheme to steal grain as a preventive measure in the form of detention.
At the request of NABU detectives, on March 24, the court chose the organizer of the scheme as a preventive measure in the form of detention, but with the alternative of providing bail in the amount of UAH 2.684 million.
The suspect is the former head of the SE “Center for Certification and Examination of Seeds and Planting Material” (SE “TSSENSM”).
The figure of the case was taken into custody in the courtroom. The preventive measure will last until May 22, 2023, inclusive. In the event of bail, the suspect will be subject to a number of procedural obligations.
It will be recalled that on March 2, NABU detectives reported suspicion of abuse of official position to the former heads of SE “TSENSM” and the Poltava branch of the state-owned enterprise, as well as the beneficiary and the director of two private companies – business entities.
At the beginning of 2020, officials of the Poltava branch of SE “TSENSM”, in agreement with the head of the head office, concluded contracts for the supply of grain for the future harvest with private companies.
The contracts contained requirements regarding the obligation to take into account market prices at the time of drawing up and signing expenditure invoices for products. But later the parties made changes to the contracts and canceled the specified requirements.
As a result, agricultural crops were sold at a price almost twice lower than the market price — this caused the state enterprise losses in the amount of UAH 9.1 million.
