The Court of Odesa sentenced the head of the “Ukrainian Seamen Association”
The leader of the “Ukrainian Union of Seamen” (USU) Khrystyna Korol received a fine of almost half a million hryvnias. She was also banned from conducting activities for years.
We will remind you that Khrystyna Korol is suspected of organizing a scheme to take sailors abroad with the help of forged documents. Earlier it became known that she pleaded guilty and entered into an agreement with the investigation — on April 10, Primorskyi District Court of Odesa approved and sentenced her.
In the verdict, it was noted that the head of the public organization helped sailors of draft age go abroad during martial law. To do this, they forged military flowers and other documents that give men the right to freely cross the border of Ukraine. The cost of such “services” ranged from $6,500 to $8,000.
According to the investigation, sailors who did not have the opportunity to go abroad addressed the head of the NGO using a code phrase. She took the phone number and promised to contact him. Further, the communication passed through other people, some of whom the investigation did not establish.
Among the identified participants of the scheme is the deputy director of LLC “Educational Center of Maritime Transport Specialists”, who also received a sentence.
So far, the investigation has indicated only one episode of “helping” the sailor. Khrystyna Korol must pay a fine of UAH 425,000, and the court also deprived her of the right to engage in activities related to the training of maritime transport specialists for three years.
