The court quadrupled the bail for the ex-head of the Odesa port plant


The Appellate Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court quadrupled the bail of one of the former acting officials. director of the Odesa Port Plant.

The former head of the Odesa Port Plant is suspected of involvement in the embezzlement of UAH 500 million of funds that belonged to state enterprises.

In particular, these are the funds of the Odesa Port Plant and the United Mining and Chemical Company, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office reported.

According to the decision of the appellate court, the bail was increased from UAH 5.9 million to UAH 20.13 million. At the same time, the procedural duties determined by the investigative judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court were left unchanged.

As a reminder, we are talking about one of the members of the criminal organization, which during 2019-2021 seized more than UAH 500 million of the funds of state-owned enterprises — Odesa Port Plant and United Mining and Chemical Company.

High Anti-Corruption Court chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention. After his arrest, the investigating judge will decide on the application of this preventive measure.

The members of the scheme also include:

• a person close to the head of the State Property Fund of Ukraine who is considered a co-organizer of the crime;

• advisor to the head of the Federal State University;

• two persons who at different times held the positions of acting directors of JSC “Odesa Port Plant”;

• Acting director of JSC “United Mining and Chemical Company”;

• two owners of LLC, winners of the auction at “Odesa Port Plant”;

• two more natural persons whom the investigation considers complicit in the crime.

The former head of the State Property Fund of Ukraine and nine other participants were charged with suspicion in March. On May 8, in absentia, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for one of the suspected ex-experts of the Odesa Port Plant.
