The cruiser “Moskva” sank due to the self-confidence of the invaders

The russian invaders lost the “famous” flagship cruiser, because they thought that the Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense was not capable of reaching the ship.

At the beginning of a full-scale invasion, Ukraine needed to reduce the Black Sea Fleet of the russian Federation, however, the Ukrainian army had little capacity for this, told the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhnyi in Dmytro Komarov’s documentary “The Year”.

The Armed Forces destroyed the flagship cruiser “Moskva” with two missiles of the “Neptune” complex, although two missiles are not enough to sink such a ship. With the air defense forces and means that were on the cruiser, at least 6-7 cruise missiles were needed, Navy Commander Oleksiy Neizhpapa shared.

The cruiser “Moskva” was once intended to conduct combat operations against the US Navy in the open ocean. He had nothing to do in the Black Sea. The “Pearl of the russian Navy” was destroyed due to the self-confidence of the occupiers, because they thought that the ship was beyond the reach of Ukrainian air defense forces.

Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov noted that the destruction of “Moskva” made it possible to de-occupy Zmiiny Island and unblock the ports of Odesa for the export of Ukrainian agricultural products.
