The damaged ship with Russian saltpeter was allowed to port in Britain
The vessel “MV Ruby”, which is carrying 20,000 tons of ammonium nitrate from Russia, has docked at the port of Great Yarmouth in Norfolk, Great Britain.
The ship was released after several weeks of EU countries refusing to accept it, Sky News reports.
According to the Norwegian edition of The Barents Observer, the ship loaded its cargo in the Russian port of Kandalaksha at the end of August and was heading to Las Palmas, Spain. However, due to the damage he received, he had to change his route, and negotiations to moor in a safe port continued for several weeks.
While waiting in the waters off Great Britain, the ship initially remained 19 km from the coast of the country, but due to bad weather it was allowed to approach the coast of Kent at a distance of 17.7 km. The “MV Ruby” is currently in the port of Great Yarmouth, where it is planned to transfer its cargo to another vessel.
Port Director Richard Goffen assured that the port has all the necessary facilities to handle and handle hazardous materials, which is a normal practice for the port.
USM previously reported that a ship with explosive saltpeter from the Russian Federation crossed the English Channel.
