The details of the sinking of the cruiser “Moskva” became known

The flagship of the Black Sea Fleet of russian federation was hit from the Neptune complex, although the weather conditions did not contribute to this.

The Ukrainian military did not have the opportunity to conduct reconnaissance with either aircraft, Bayraktar drones, or optical satellites. On this day, April 13, the crew of the Russian cruiser “Moskva” planned to take advantage of this. They swam 120 kilometers to the Ukrainian coast, Ukrainian Pravda writes.

Anonymously, one of the Ukrainian rocket engineers involved in the creation of the Neptune said that the cruiser’s crew lost self-confidence. The russian military understood that due to bad weather, they could not be seen from the sky, nor from the shore. In addition, air defense systems and other defense systems were on board the cruiser.

“The operator of “Neptune” should not have found “Moskva” with ordinary radar, but this is exactly what happened. So, after several minutes of heavy hesitation and consultation, he gave the command “launch” and two missiles, at short intervals, flew towards the russian cruiser. The approximate time of their approach should have been a little more than 6 minutes. No one knew what would happen after these minutes passed,” the specialist shared the details of the operation.

At the same time, the “Bayraktar” operators refused to take off to verify the hit, because they would not see anything above the clouds, and if they flew under the clouds, they would be shot down.

Later it became known that “Moskva” is trying to hide behind the “Boik towers”. Four russian ships simultaneously headed towards the cruiser from different directions. But just then, an unexpected storm began at sea, and any rescue operations became difficult. When the Ukrainian military realized that a tugboat had left Crimea for “Moskva”, it became obvious to them: the situation on the cruiser was critical.

The very next day the storm subsided. It was then that the shots of the downed flagship were taken.

As previously reported by USM, the ship sank in the Black Sea. The loss of the missile cruiser is estimated at $750 million.
