The economic effect of the “solidarity corridors” reached 125 billion euros

Last year, the export of Ukrainian products through the “solidarity corridors” showed good results.

“We are doing everything possible to preserve the viability of the Ukrainian economy. When exports from Ukraine were blocked, we opened “solidarity corridors”. During the past year, thanks to them, it was possible to increase the turnover to 125 billion euros – thanks to trade between Ukraine, the European Union and third countries,” said the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, Ukrinform reports.

Sanctions against the Russian Federation have also proven effective. They deeply affect the Russian economy, which has gone into war mode.

“This is the economy of war. Nothing else, no worthy goods or values, they produce. They are focused only on the production of weapons, albeit not of high quality, but massively,” commented the President of the European Commission.

Ursula von der Leyen noted that when the EU imposes sanctions, the country against which they are directed, tries to circumvent them. The EU closes the loopholes, and then the opposing country again tries to find ways around the restrictive measures.

“Now we are targeting those countries that have significantly increased imports from the EU, after which these goods from third countries end up on the territory of Russia. We impose sanctions against relevant companies, institutions and individuals. The next package of sanctions currently on the table is largely aimed at doing just that. We have to be tough and persistent in order to close all the gaps step by step,” Von der Leyen insisted.

Earlier, the European Commission agreed to provide 50 million euros for the restoration of Ukrainian ports.
