The European Business Association calls for the expansion of “Grain Agreements”

The European Business Association calls on the UN and Turkey to extend the term of the “grain agreements” and to include the Mykolaiv port hub in the list of ports.

As of the beginning of October, more than 6 million tons of grain have already been sent to the countries of Africa, Asia and Europe. However, the decrease in the number of inspections of ships with Ukrainian agricultural products (up to 12-15 per day) leads to the idleness of ships in the ports of Great Odessa and the reduction of their load by half. As a result, prices for Ukrainian grain will rise, the Association noted.

In order to effectively export Ukrainian grain and avoid a large crowding of vessels, it is necessary to carry out at least 25 inspections per day. It is also proposed to expand the geography of the “grain initiative”, namely to include the Mykolaiv sea port hub.

Currently, Ukraineis conducting complex negotiations with Turkey and the UN regarding the continuation of the grain corridor.
