The European Commission insists on returning of russia to the implementation of the Grain Agreements
Russia’s decision to withdraw from the Black Sea Grain Initiative creates risks for food security in vulnerable countries of the world. The European Commission calls on russia to return to the implementation of the agreement.
“Russia’s decision to suspend participation in the Black Sea Grain Initiative puts at risk a major export route for the delivery of grain and fertilizer needed to alleviate the global food crisis caused by russia’s war against Ukraine. This agreement made it possible to significantly change the situation. We called on russia to reconsider its decision, to return to the implementation of the agreement and to allow the use of sea corridors for the delivery of food,” said the spokeswoman of the European Commission for Foreign Affairs and Security, Nabila Massrali, during a briefing in Brussels.
Another spokesman for the European Commission, Stephan de Keersmaeker, said that in the period from May to the end of October, thanks to the “solidarity lines”, the EU exported about 29 million tons of food and non-food goods from Ukraine. Earlier, USM reported that the German MFA called on russia to comply with the Ggrain Agreement.
