The European Commission may take off restrictions on the import of Ukrainian grain

The European Commission has not received any official appeals regarding the extension of restrictions on the import of agricultural products from Ukraine.

The European Commission hopes to resume full import of Ukrainian grain after September 15. Currently, European politicians are working on increasing the capacity of “solidarity corridors” and solving logistical problems to remove restrictions on imports from Ukraine. This was stated by the spokesperson of the European Commission, Balash Uyvari, Ukrinform reports.

We will remind you that in May 2023, the European Commission banned the import of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower from Ukraine to Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Romania due to problems on local markets. Later, on June 5, the period of restrictions was extended until September 15.

Currently, Ukrainian agricultural products can be imported to any EU country, except for the five mentioned above. At the same time, goods from Ukraine can transit through these countries.

In general, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine, more than 35 million tons of agricultural products have been exported through the “corridors of solidarity”.
