The European Commission will provide 50 million euros for the restoration of Ukrainian ports
The European Commission agreed to provide Ukraine with 50 million euros for the restoration of ports affected by Russian aggression.
“Despite the war, Ukraine continues to feed the world. You can count on the EU in these efforts. We continue to improve our “lanes of solidarity” and will provide 50 million euros to repair your port infrastructure. Together, we are taking Ukrainian grain to the world,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen wrote on the X social network.
The head of the European Commission attached a letter to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the statement. In it, von der Leyen noted that improved port facilities will speed up the export of food and other goods that Ukraine supplies to world markets.
“Over time, our investments will allow Ukrainian ports to return to pre-war export volumes. In addition to the “lanes of solidarity” by land, sea routes will make Ukrainian food exports more competitive and predictable. This will benefit consumers around the world, in particular, by promoting food security in the most vulnerable regions,” the document says.
