The European Union is preparing sanctions against ships that transport weapons from the North Korea to the Russian Federation
The EU may soon impose sanctions on sea transport that delivers weapons from North Korea to the Russian Federation.
The new sanctions will apply not only to vessels transporting weapons, but also to tankers that avoid the price ceiling for Russian oil introduced by the G7, Reuters writes.
It is noted that the European Commission is currently finalizing its proposals for the 14th sanctions package against the Russian Federation.
“The documents show that 40 companies will be added to the list of sanctions. They will include Russian companies that purchase equipment for the military, as well as companies in third countries that sold electronics, semiconductors and chips for military use to Russia,” the newspaper reports.
The UAE, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and China are among the countries from which companies may be subject to sanctions. All of them sold various equipment to Russia from the EU and the USA.
“This week, the European Commission will informally discuss the proposals with EU members, after which they will be submitted for debate by the European Council,” the agency notes.
We will remind you that in December 2023 there was confirmation of the delivery of more than 10,000 containers with weapons, ammunition and other military equipment from the DPRK to the Russian Federation.
