Explosive devices for undermining Nord Stream gas pipelines could be transported on a yacht.
The yacht was rented through a charter company on the German island of Rügen, Spiegel reports.
According to the publication, the ship on which the saboteurs could transport explosives is the sailing yacht “Andromeda” of the Bavaria Cruiser 50 class. Its length is 15 meters. The home port is the community of Breguet on the island of Rügen, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

The yacht was rented by a group of previously unidentified persons who used forged documents. The managing director of the lessee company declined to comment on the situation, as did the federal prosecutor’s office in the city of Karlsruhe. The agency only confirmed that the vessel was searched from January 18 to 20, precisely because of a suspicious lease.

Investigators from the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) also inspected a marina in the north of the island of Rügen. The Andromeda is believed to have stopped there in early September after sailing from Rostock-Warnemünde. VKA employees interviewed witnesses and also studied the documents of the port operator.
It is not known exactly when the tenants returned “Andromeda” after use. The explosions at “Nord Streams” occurred on the night of September 26. According to the investigators, it is still unknown who is behind the attacks on gas pipelines.
Earlier, the German media published an investigation in which they claimed that the vessel used to sabotage the Nord Streams was allegedly connected to Ukraine. Similar conclusions are also found in an article published by The New York Times.
